HARRIET CHALLIS PHOTOGRAPHER
I’m a Fine Art Photographer using mostly analogue (film) cameras in order to create portraits that reflect you with integrity and respect.
Collaboration is essential - it’ll be fun - and I’ll work hard to reveal you with honesty and soul.
Your portrait will elevate you in the eye of the viewer.
Need a portrait for a press feature or marketing, an author pic or an album cover? Perhaps you want it for a frame and the memory - or something else altogether.
Tell me your story and I’ll find ways to show it. I’m not only interested in revealing your physical self, I work hard to make sure your character takes flight in my images too.
Through compositional, environmental and in-camera techniques the results will be appropriate and striking.
Based in West London I’ll travel to within an hour of W12, and beyond by arrangement.
Global Aphantasia. This is the name given to my unusual neurological quirk; a sensory trait that works to our advantage. Without the ability evoke any of the senses internally, including the ability to visualise, I approach our session with no pre-planned shots or visual expectations.
The result is that I respond in the moment and don’t rely on a particular formula for my craft. My output can be surprising and at no point will I try to squish you into a formulaic ‘strategy’ or ‘system’ box.
There’s no awkward posing, no intimidating kit.
Without visual or any other internal sensory recall, photographs are essential for me, amounting to both pictorial and emotional memories. I can tell you more about this, together with how and why it improves my feel for photography and as a consequence your portrait too.
